Yes. However, to comply with federal tax laws, the retiree’s retirement must have been bona fide—for example, not undertaken with the intent of commencing pension or 401(k) plan benefits and then returning to work. Accordingly, an employee cannot, prior to retirement, arrange with a manager to retire and then be rehired for the purpose of accessing FedEx pension and 401(k) plan benefits during the planned temporary period of retirement.
To avoid potential issues with the processing of pension and 401(k) plan benefits, a retiree should not be rehired sooner than ninety (90) days following their date of retirement.
No. The FedEx Pension Plans are closed to employees hired or rehired on or after January 1, 2020.
Your monthly payments will continue if you are rehired.
You will need to wait to be rehired until your first payment has been made to ensure the payment process has fully completed.
No. Your pension benefits can only start after you are no longer employed by any FedEx company.

As a rehired retiree, if you have an account balance in the plan, you may be eligible for in-service withdrawals and/or qualify for loans as an active employee. Otherwise, you must wait until retiring again from FedEx before you can access your balance.
Yes. You will automatically be enrolled in the FedEx Corporation Retirement Savings Plan II when you are rehired. You may choose at any time to discontinue the contribution by contacting Vanguard or visiting vanguard.com/retirementplans.

Retirees covered by FedEx health benefits will not have access to their FedEx retiree health benefits or active employee health benefits for the period in which they return to work in a casual employment status. Enrollment in the FedEx Pre-65 Retiree Health Plan and the Retiree Health Premium Account (RHPA) will be suspended until the retiree is no longer employed by any FedEx operating company. An eligible spouse who is enrolled in pre-65 Retiree health coverage may remain covered by the retiree health plan. The spouse will not be eligible as a dependent for active employee health benefits during the period in which the retiree returns as a casual employee. The spouse’s Retiree Health Premium Account will also be suspended.
